Last week's meeting was a results night from the third open competition of the season. There were many entries from the packed hall and the judge, Leigh Woolford AWPF, from Gwynfra Camera Club, was very impressed with the high standard of the photography.

The first section to be viewed was the prints. There was a wide selection of subjects, landscapes, natural history, contemporary, sports, among others.

After much deliberation, the judge selected four images, which scored 19 and 20 points.

He awarded the following places: 4. Memorial to the Fallen - Harry Gardiner; 3. Spring Snow - Paul Richards; 2. Street Life - Jill Baxter; 1. In for the Kill - Paul Richards.

After a break for refreshments, the club viewed the digital images, and again, the standard was very high, and the number of entries even greater than the prints.

Leigh gave a good resumé of his thoughts on each one, and at last, chose four images which he considered to be the best.

Again awarding 19 and 20 points, he placed the following as the winners: 4. Secrets - Dave Marriott; 3. Misty Morning - Paul Richards; 2. Shrimp for Tea - Paul Richards; 1. Windy Day - Jill Baxter.

Everyone was delighted with the standard of the work submitted, and the excellent judgments awarded, and wished Leigh well.

The next meeting is a talk on astro photography by Dr. Steve Wainwright on January 28.
