At St. Florence Village Hall last week, the club enjoyed a talk by Mervyn Pugh, AWPF, entitled Merv's Pics, 'Tips and Tricks'. Merv began with some useful information about his techniques, the equipment he uses and printing and paper with which he has had success.
He then went on to show examples of his prints trying out many different approaches to his photography.
With subjects ranging from the froth on a cup of cappucino to turning the flatbed scanner upside down and using it on a selection of rubbish with a black bag as the background, he showed his enthralled audience a new slant on photography.
He likes to print on a variety of papers, glossy, matt, and parchment, and he showed the different results that can be achieved with these surfaces, comparing the same image on different papers.
He then went on to show his panel of photographs of miners, taken at the Tower Colliery, with which he gained his Association of Welsh Photographic Federation award.
After a break for refreshments, Merv then showed his audience his digital presentation on Tower Colliery and a selection of his stunning landscapes. Everyone was delighted with the show, the tips they had learned and with the standard of the photography.
Next week's meeting will be the results night for the second open competition, with judge Roy Thomas APAGB. For further information, please visit the website http://www.tenby-camera-club.co.uk">www.tenby-camera-club.co.uk.
