Last week's meeting of Tenby and District Camera Club at St. Florence Village Hall was judging night for the wildlife competition. The judge for the evening was Peter Preece DIP AD. The standard of photography was very high and Mr. Preece paid tribute to this in his judging.
He began with the prints section, for which there were a good many entries. He was delighted with the standard of mounting the prints, as well as the prints themselves. After reviewing all the prints, he kept several back for further commentary.
Out of these, he then selected four and awarded the places as follows: 1. Arctic Tern by Jill Baxter; 2. Wheatear by Paul Richards; 3. Dipper by Andrew Baxter; 4. Adder by Paul Richards.
After a break for refreshments, teas, coffees and sponge cake, served by Mick 'the tea' and his helpers, the competition moved on to the projected images.
Again the standard was very high, and marking the images as he went, Mr. Preece picked out four which he awarded the maximum of 20 points.
Out of these he awarded the places to: 1. Preening Darter by Julia Molesworth; 2. Red Kite: Aerial Acrobatics by Paul Richards; 3. Tern in Storm by Andrew Baxter; 4. Tern Aggression by Jill Baxter.
As the overall winning image, for the whole competition, and the person who will receive the first Kevin Dunphy Wildlife Award, he picked Tern Aggression by Jill Baxter.
The next meeting on November 27 will be Merv's Pics 'Tips and Tricks' by Mervyn Pugh. Everyone is welcome to go to the meetings held weekly at St. Florence Village Hall.
