Last week's meeting at Tenby and District Camera Club saw a change to the programme, as the original speaker had to go into hospital. So one of the members, Roger Cook, stepped into the breach and put on a display of some of his work. Roger is a professional photographer, who specialises in sports photography. He delighted his audience with his images from his early days in Sheffield at the speedway track working in conjunction with a student newspaper, and on to the ice hockey rink, with some cracking shots of the players in action, and then out of doors, to the world of horses and cross country events, and also action from the rugby field.

He then moved onto days in Buxton, Derbyshire, and the speedway events there, and the fascinating world of the theatre, especially the annual Gilbert and Sullivan Festival. He explained that excellent images can be obtained if the venue is small and intimate enough to gain access to the stage.

Various re-enactment events, such as 1940s nostalgia, can be good subjects for photography, and he showed some lovely portraits, and atmospheric shots from some of these. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed his presentation and the photographs he showed, and then after a break for refreshments, members were delighted to view the winning images from last week's selection of shots to go forward to the next external competition, the Ace of Clubs.

Everyone then enjoyed images from the Welsh Photographic Federation Saloon of photographs, which included photographs selected by the judges, from many other Welsh clubs, as well as some images from our own members.

Next week's meeting on February 14 will be a competition results night for the love and romance competition to be judged by Brian Coleman AWPF. For further information, please see the website http://www.tenby-camera-club.co.uk">www.tenby-camera-club.co.uk
