For their first meeting of 2012, the Tenby and District Arts Club was pleased to welcome the Seren School of Irish Dancing. Their teacher, Cheryl Clarke, and five members of the school performed for the club. They each wore beautifully decorated costumes, which swirled wonderfully when they danced. They started the evening in soft shoes known as ghillies.
For the first dance, three girls each gave a solo performance, followed by the final two girls together, and then all five joined together to complete the routine. In the next dance, the six dancers effortlessly formed circles, pairs and v-shapes. In the following dance, the five students danced individually, and then finished altogether.
While the students changed to hard shoes, members were treated to a solo performance by Cheryl. The final dance comprised all the dancers doing a solo foot-stomping, hard shoe dance, completed rousingly with everyone in unison! It was an exhilarating performance, much enjoyed by the members.
This (Friday) evening, Margaret Acors will be giving a slideshow on the 'Eagle Hunters of Mongolia'. This will be in St. Johns Church Hall at 8 pm. Everyone is welcome, members £2 and non-members £4, including tea or coffee and biscuits! See you there!
