The fishing seems to have been as hard as we can remember in recent weeks, with most matches producing a handful of fish at best. 'Pin' whiting continue to be a bit of a scourge and it's mystifying as to where the LSD have gone.

November 5, mid-week match: No fireworks in this match for the nine anglers who entered. Mike Dixon found a couple of dabs and GPT pinched the 11 points.

Results - 1. G. P. Thomas, LSD 0.669 kg; 2. Mike Dixon, bag 0.316 kg.

November 9, roving match: Just five anglers, including a very brave junior lady, fished on a day when the forecast could not have been worse, with freezing temperatures, thunder and lightning predicted. The weathermen were right, but some flounders were found, principally in the estuaries.

Results - 1. Julian Davies and John Nicholas, 45 pts; 2. Mike and Isobel Williams, 14 pts.

November 16, inter-club match v Clevedon Pier SAC: A pleasant day weather-wise meant the club was able to welcome Clevedon for the latest inter-club match with the promise of not being wet, even if we gave no guarantee about the fishing. At least the Clevedon members were honest enough to say that things were no better at their pier!

Thirty-four anglers in total booked in, looking for dabs, dogs, flounders and whiting. Unfortunately, just two anglers landed in-size fish, but at least honours were shared for once, with a fish for each club.

However, the after-match hospitality was excellent as ever at the Ex-Servicemen's Club in Tenby, where Clevedon and Tenby members consumed a very welcome three-course meal and no doubt a few 'sherberts'.

The results mean that Tenby actually go into next year's second leg with a very slender lead, thanks to John Nicholas.

Results - 1. John Nicholas (Tenby), flounder 0.565 kg; 2. B. Perry (Clevedon), dab 0.319 kg.

November 19, mid-week match: Ten anglers continued their pursuit of fish in the latest in the mid-week series. The fishing remains difficult and just a few LSD were weighed in.

Results - 1. Mike Williams, LSD 0.704 kg; 2. John Williams, bag 1.089 kg.

Phil Hughes took one of his last junior vouchers with a LSD of 0.383 kg. From next year, Phil will be playing against the 'big boys' or at least his grandfather and uncle!

November 22, Candy and Creese Cups, North Beach: Ten anglers booked in for the rearranged Candy and Creese match on the North Beach. Well done to John Hinde for finding not one, but two fish in size and he takes the Candy Cup. The two juniors fishing for the Creese Junior Cup will have to wait for another day as John's two fish were all that was weighed in. The Creese Junior Cup will now be fished for on another later match.

Results - 1. John Hinde, LSD 0.616 kg; John also weighed in a five-bearded rockling.

November 30, inter-club match v Pembroke: Hopes were high that the club could end its recent poor run of form against Pembroke and District, particularly after the narrow first leg victory against Clevedon two weeks previous. Alas, a bit like Chelsea and Liverpool, we continued to struggle on home territory, with Tenby members landing two LSD to Pembroke's six. Well done to John Nicholas and Mike Dixon, however, for the two LSD that were caught of 0.780 kg and 0.620 kg, respectively.

December 3, mid-week match: Six anglers fished the last but one mid-week match for the year. Garfield found his bag of two LSD and Barry winkled out a dab.

Results - 1. G. P. Thomas, LSD, 0.812 kg; 2. Barry Taylor, dab 0.218 kg.
