Tenby Football Club were proud to receive a £750 Sportsmatch Award from the Sports Council of Wales. This was possible due to the sponsorship of Mr. Colin Sharp, of the Famous Pound Shop, who sponsored the Tenby Ladies football team.
Presenting the cheque is Lois Hilling (Sports Council for Wales sportsmatch panel member), who is seen with Norman Hanlon (chairman of Tenby AFC), Colin Sharp (Famous Pound Shop), Lorraine Saunders (secretary), Angela Nicholls (coach), Tom Aston (committee) and team players.
This award has enabled the club to start a new Under 14s girls team, which bridges the void between the Under 12s and Senior level; also enabling the purchase of equipment, training facilities; leaders and goalkeeper courses.
This ensures a continuation in the development and success of girls and ladies football in Tenby.
Many players at the Tenby club attend county development training and play at county level. Three of these will go to Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on February 21 and 22 for international Under 16s squad training sessions.
