Tenby AFC held its junior presentation night at the De Valance Pavilion recently and would like to thank the Town Council for honouring the booking from last year.

Thanks also go to Cath Graham and Chris Brown for their help in preparing the evening.

Chairman of Tenby AFC Alun Morgan, opened the proceedings by firstly thanking Andrew Price, the club's main sponsor, who's financial support over the years have made Tenby AFC the force it is today.

He went on to thank all the individual team kit sponsors, the ground advertising board sponsors and the many business and individuals that have contributed to the club this year.

Alun commented that it had been a fantastic season, having won two league championships, six league runners up, two cup finals and two cup final runners up altogether.

This was mainly due to the excellent coaching staff that the club has, he said, who responded with a loud round of applause.

Obviously, they can't do it without the commitment and dedication of all the players and the assistance and loyalty from the parents, he continued, thanking everyone for making it a truly exceptional year once again.

Alun then introduced the honoured guests, who would be presenting the awards.

They were main sponsor, Andrew Price and the senior first team coach, Mike Lewis.

The Under 8s coached by Dene Hurlow and sponsored by Quay West holidays, had a great first season of football and emerged as one of the strongest in the county.

They finished the year by winning the Tenby Round Table soccer sevens tournament. Each player received a commemorative medal and James Gardner and Tate Lawrence had special awards as the two outstanding players.

The Under 9s, sponsored by Designdough and under the watchful eye of Lee Simmons, Adam Brown and Colin Wherrett, also enjoyed a good season and have improved considerably during the year.

They also signed several new players at the end of the season, which will strengthen their small squad.

'Clubman of the Year' went to Harry Rossiter, while Lucas Probert was voted 'Most Improved Player'..

The players picked Ollie Brown as their 'Player of the Year' and the managers selected Joe Evans as theirs.

The Under 10 As, managed by Luke Lawrence, and sponsored by DVS and Big Brums, were again one of the top teams in Pembrokeshire and proved this by being runners-up in the recent Soccer Sevens.

Dylan Scotcher was the 'Clubman of the Year' and 'Most Improved' went to Henry McBeth.

Billy Lawrence received the 'Players' Player' and Luke choose Max Brindley as his 'Player of the Year'.

The Under 10 Bs side, run by Lloyd Davies and sponsored by Manor House Wildlife Park, had an indifferent year but are proving a good feeder team for the 'A' team when they have absentees.

Joel Davies was voted 'Clubman of the Year' and Stephen Ifield was awarded the 'Most Improved Player'. The smiling Herbie Hagger was the 'Players' Player' and Thomas Rees was Lloyds choice.

The Under 11s girls team managed by Angela Nicholls and Suzanne Wilson, were runners-up in the Pembrokeshire Astroturf league.

'Clubman of the Year' was won by Bridget John and Nieve Jenkins picked up the 'Most Improved Player'.

The girls all selected Carys Lloyd as their 'Players Player', while Anna Glarvey was the manager's choice.

The Under 11s managed by Matthew Broadhurst and Carl Wainwright and sponsored by County Financial Consultants, remained unbeaten for the fourth year running and are looking forward to playing eleven-a-side on a big pitch next year.

Several of the boys are in the Swansea and Cardiff training schools.

The 'Clubman' award went to James Harries, while the 'Most Improved Player' went to Sam Harries-Perfect.

Tom Rossiter won the 'Players' Player' award and the 'Manager's Player' went to Billy Truman.

The Under 12s, who are sponsored by Andrew Price and managed by Lloyd Goforth and Jason Taylor, finished the year as League champions.

Their record was truly amazing, losing only one game and scoring 137 goals and conceding only 21 in the process.

Lewis Chapman and Malley Paxton shared the 'Clubman of the Year' and Matthew Webb and Jordan Cornick shared the 'Most Improved Player' award.

The boys all agreed that Adam Davidson was their 'Players' Player 'and the 'Manager's Player' was Harry Goforth.

The Under 13s, coached by Kevin Ferney and sponsored by Park Road Chip Shop, have enjoy a brilliant second season of competitive football by winning the double.

They won the Under 13s league by remaining unbeaten all year, scoring 195 goals, and only conceding 13.

They beat Clarbeston Road, on penalties, to lift the Pembrokeshire Cup and just missed out in the semi-final of the West Wales Cup to the eventual winners, Port Tennant Colts.

The 'Clubman' award went to Scott Ferney and Ben Roberts picked up the 'Most Improved Player' trophy.

The players selected both Ben Roberts and Kieran Jones as their 'Players' Player' while Adam John was the 'Manager's Player of the Year'.

The Under 14s, sponsored by Tees-R-Us and coached by Angela Nicholls, had a slightly frustrating year, dropping some silly points both home and away, but still finished as runners-up in the League.

Angela has already strengthened her management team in readiness for the new season in a bid to push for silverware.

Niall Kinsella won the 'Clubman' award and Nathan Wilson was Angela's 'Most Improved Player', she also picked Shaun Whitfield as her 'Player of the Year' while Luke Conbeer was the 'Players' Player'.

The Under 15s, sponsored by T.P. Hughes and coached by John Grover, James Chiffi and John Greer, had just enjoyed their best season to date.

They finished runners-up in both the League and Cup and had the distinction of being the only team to beat the double winning Hakin.

David Webb was selected as the 'Clubman of the Year' with Matt Davies as the 'Most Improved Player'.

Sam Butler was picked by his fellow players as their 'Player of the Year' while the managers selected Toby Rossiter as theirs.

The Under 16s, girls managed by Angela, with help from Holly Cloake and Rhianne Griffiths, had a difficult year with a number of players leaving for various reasons. However, they finished third in the League which was excellent under the circumstances.

Angela picked Jodie Wallace as her 'Clubman of the Year' and Casie Paxton was voted the 'Most Improved Player'.

Lori Amos was the 'Players Player' while the 'Manager's Player of the Year' was Jess Webb.

The Under 16s managed by Gavin Scotcher and Neil Proctor and sponsored by the Atlantic Hotel finished the year as runners-up in both the League and Cup and reached the semi final of the West Wales Cup.

They have been real ambassadors for the Club winning six trophies out of a possible ten. The 'Clubman of the Year' was won by Dan Storer and Jake Proctor, with Nathan Davies winning the 'Most Improved Player'.

Their 'Players' Player' was won by Kyran 'Spud' Lewis and the 'Managers Player of the Year' was shared by captain Ross Lacells.

The Seniors held their dinner the night before at the Normandie Hotel.

The first team were runners-up in the First Division, after gaining promotion last year and the Second team were back to back runners-up, this time in the Fourth Division. However, the Seconds won the Fourth Division Cup beating neighbours, St. Florence. The First team Clubman award went to Dene Hurlow, while Peter Horsley picked it up for the Seconds.

Jake Roberts won the 'Most Improved Player' for the Firsts and Dan Edwards for the Seconds.

The 'Players' Player' for the Firsts was Gareth Lewis , while Jimmy Thomas won it for the Seconds.

The 'Managers Player of the Year, for the Firsts was won by Gareth Lewis and James Howes won the trophy for the Seconds.

The Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans, presented certificates from the Town Council to three players for their outstanding achievements in the sport of football. They were Elliott Scotcher who gained his Welsh Under 16s cap and has recently signed for Ipswich Town FC, Dylan Rees who is in his third season with Cardiff City FC and to seven year old Rhys Morgan who has just signed for Swansea City FC last month.

Clr. Mrs. Evans also made special reference to Daryl Mansbridge Curtis Hurlow and Gareth Warlow who were in the winning Pembrokeshire College team that won the Welsh Schools Cup.

The final presentations of the night were the club awards.

Winner of the Bernard Steer Junior Goalkeeper was Will Davies (U13s); the Nicola Aston Best Junior Girl Player was Jess Webb (U16s); the Sid Spencer Best Junior Boy Player was Rhys Morgan (U8s); and the Johnny Elms Best Junior Senior Player was Daryl Mansbridge.

The Hillings Junior Team of the Year was the double winning Under 13s and the Deryn Brace Dedication to Tenby AFC was won by Kevin Ferney.

The raffle prize winners were: two Arsenal tickets for any Premier game at the Emirates Stadium was won by Harri Phillips; the signed football by Joe Allen of Swansea (formerly of Tenby) was won by Dylan Scotcher; one basket of wine was won by Angela Nicholls and the second basket of wine was won by Glenys Johns; bottle of champagne was won Luke Lawrence, while bottles of wine were also won by Julian Rees and Cath Millward.

The main prize of four Manchester United tickets for any game at Old Trafford was not claimed, the winning ticket number was on the white 171-175. If you have the winning ticket, please contact Dene Hurlow.
