Local boy Ben Baker from Begelly, who boxes for Tenby ABC, represented Wales over the weekend in the British Cadet Championships in Edinburgh. Having made the final, Ben met the best boy in England, Brendon Joyce. Ben proved to be too clever a boxer for the English champion, who was favourite going into the ring. This heavily-fancied boy was surprised by the quality of boxing from the boy from Begelly and, despite damaging his hand in the second round, Ben kept going to take the gold and a well deserved win. Ben is also Welsh champion. Well done Ben. Unfortunately, this will be the last time Ben will box in Tenby as the Boxing Club is due to close shortly.
