Sir,

I think Tenby is a wonderful place to live, but having been watching all Olympic events on television I am rather sorry not to see our local postbox painted gold, or be able to buy any of the Olympic commemorative stamps so far.

Hopefully some of our local athletes might be ready to participate, and do us proud, in the next Olympic Games in Rio!

Below is a poem about Tenby which I wrote some years ago, summing up my own feelings about our town which echoes the feeling of pride in being British during the Olypmics.

Eileen M. Williams,

Tenby.

TENBY

Picturesque Tenby, artists' dream,

Jewel embraced by Carmarthen Bay;

With cliffs bedecked with Nature's green;

Long golden sands where children play.

Those who visit should stay awhile

To shop, and dine, or take a sail

Perhaps to Caldey, Holy Isle;

Return to rest - (or sample ale!).

Tenby is, of course, well known

For its very old walled town,

But did you know, in Tudor Square

Lord Nelson once meandered there?

And Tenby churchyard doth enshrine

Inventor of the equals sign.

Beatrix Potter holidayed here;

President Carter came one year!

Famous people come and go

And all have said they love it so.

There's nowhere else I'd like to be

But Tenby - my home by the sea!
