At the annual general meeting of the Tenby 50-Plus Friendship Club ('the club run by members for member'), on Wednesday, chair Anne Elms reminded everyone of the club's slogan and of happy times shared over the past 12 months. Events had been varied and included half-day trips out, lunches and afternoon teas.
The club had also welcomed speakers on topics as diverse as Sugar Craft, the work of the Paul Sartori Foundation and Ghostly Goings On! The club had been pleased to support the Tenby community and the Town Council by donating £50 to the Jubilee Play Park and at Christmas by joining the carol singing and donating the proceeds.
The club also supported the Tenby Scouts and Guides by attending the charity lunch at the Giltar Hotel, while secretary Linda Hine baked and decorated a mouth watering Christmas cake which was raffled in aid of the Tenby Air Ambulance.
Outgoing treasurer, Bernard Edwards, presented the accounts which were approved and a committee for 2013/2014 was elected.
Having been unanimously re-elected as chair, Anne offered warm appreciation to those leaving the committee and asked outgoing joint secretary, Graham Swingler, to present the spring/summer programme for 2013.
For information about this, please call Anne on 01843 843632 or Linda on 01843 891682. Alternatively, call in to the next meeting (a quiz) on March 6, at 2 pm, in the Augustus Place Community Centre. You can be sure of a friendly welcome, but be aware, Anne is not beyond calling order with the use of her (very loud) whistle!
