Sir,

The relevant authorities must be congratulated on organising the annual 'Tenby in Bloom' competition, and also for arranging the annual 'street cleaning' programme.

Curiously, both coincided with the welcomed visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Prince of Wales.

Sine June 23 (until who knows when?) it has become, once again, a pleasure to walk the newly swept streets, and litter-free pavements of our town.

Has Tenby rediscovered its responsibilities and pride, or is it just a 10-day wonder?

Hopefully, the speeding, mechanised street-cleaning vehicle - unknown to road-sides or minor streets - has fallen victim to the forthcoming cost-cutting plans, or has a 'new broom' taken over!

Peter Lewis,

Tenby.
