Following the annual general meeting when new officials were elected and donations agreed, matters discussed at the May meeting of Templeton Community Council included the following:

Matters arising

Following no response to the advertisements for a recreational committee for the sports field and a letter from the solicitor outlining the council's legal position, it was decided to write to the trustees.

County Councillor's Report

Clr. Elwyn Morse wished to express on behalf of the council his sadness and condolences to the Ford family in their recent tragedy. All the members endorsed this.

Planning applications approved

Alterations and extension - 7 Sentence Gardens, Templeton; single storey extension - Greenfield Cottage, Templeton; conversion barn to holiday accommodation - Grove Gate Farm, Molleston; toilet and shelter facilities - Roadside Farm, Molleston.

Church hall

The accounts were presented. With regard to decoration, several quotes had been received and Clr. Jones was to contact the contractor with the best quote. In the meantime, Clr. Logan would investigate the damp area in the hall, repair the door handle in the toilet and place a guard over the overflow pipe to stop further damage.

An email was received from the caretaker reporting damage to the hall floor due to users dragging the tables. Signs would be erected to try and avoid this.

Clr. Priest would contact the electrician regarding outside sockets and extra sockets inside the hall.

Problems with the back alleyway were highlighted; there being a lot of broken glass and burnt paper. This would be monitored on a regular basis.

Users of the hall are requested not to park outside the building unless unloading.

Any other business

There was a review of the previous year and future objectives. The following objectives were agreed for the coming year: to continue to pursue bus places for Whitland School; to establish a pavement and bus shelter at Cold Blow; to commence decoration of the Church Hall; to improve the play area.

Clr. Jones reported a considerable amount of dog fouling in Pitch Lane, West Lane and Peter's Finger. The dog warden would be contacted and requested to patrol the area on a regular basis. Dog owners are once again requested to collect the mess made by their dogs and dispose of it in the proper manner making these areas pleasant for other members of the public.

The hedges at Mabes Mill Road and Captains Style had still not been cut and were very overgrown. A letter would be sent to Pembrokeshire County Council.

A letter of appreciation would be sent to Narberth police for their attendance at the Church Hall coffee morning to reassure residents following the recent tragic event.
