Matters discussed at the February meeting of Templeton Community Council included the following:

Matters arising

In response to a letter received from one of the trustees of the football field and following discussions, it was agreed to write to the parties in order to try and resolve this matter

Correspondence received included a Guide to key Personnel from Pembs. County Council and from Community Action for Energy - skills courses, plus notification of the South East Area Liaison meeting on March 18, 7 pm, at East Williamston Hall.

Commercial development, land off Molleston Road: A request was received from the developers for a suitable name for the project. Council would make suggestions at a later date.

Enquiries were still ongoing with Pembrokeshire County Council regarding a site for a bus stop at Cold Blow which the community council had agreed to fund.

Planning Applications

Clrs. Morse and Norman declared an interest and left the meeting

Applications approved: New office building and access on land adjoining Rowlands View, Templeton; outline planning permission for dwelling and garage at Kingsway, Templeton.

Objection to planning application: Having discussed the proposed erection of eight dwellings at Maes Yr Ysgol, Templeton, council decided to express their concern about this development to Pembrokeshire County Council.

Church Hall

Clr. Priest advised that following a meeting with Planed, she had received Henllan's estate proposals for the field behind the Church Hall. Clr. Priest then declared an interest.

As neither Planed nor Pembrokeshire County Council had yet presented these proposals to the council, it was decided to wait for confirmation before any comment could be made.

The council had also decided that it would not change the venue for meetings during the summer and would write to the Community Association to advise them regarding the bingo night.

A member of the public who wished to hire the Church Hall had raised a recent question regarding insurance. It was established that regular hirers of the hall should have their own insurance in place and casual hirers, although covered under certain circumstances, did so at their own risk.

There had been further vandalism to the exterior of the Church Hall, including damage to drainage pipes and Christmas lights. This was to be reported to the police, while Clr. Logan would look at repairs.

Clrs. Logan and Jones would make further enquiries regarding the decoration of the Church Hall.

Any other

business

The clerk advised that a meeting had taken place with Rhian Owens, of Menter Iaith Sir Benfro, regarding the Welsh language scheme.

As previously reported, the council had signed-up to the scheme using the PALC template and, although this had not yet been approved by the Welsh Language Board, it provided the necessary application.

Clr. Norman advised that she had been in further negotiations with bus contractors about Whitland school bus places and would be meeting with others, including MP Nick Ainger, to discuss this matter.

The lack of a pavement at Cold Blow came up for discussion again following a recent accident involving a child. It was decided that further urgent action was needed, which Clr. Morse suggested should involve the whole community.

Council appreciated the reply from Pembrokeshire County Council that drainage work would be carried out in West Lane, Woods Cross and Tanners Lane, and looked forward to these being completed in the near future.

There have been several further incidents of vandalism in the village perpetrated by a small minority of known youths. The response from the police had been disappointing and council would be writing to them and arranging a further meeting to voice their concerns.
