At the recent monthly meeting of Templeton Community Council, a request was again received from Pembrokeshire Housing to resolve the ongoing problems with the holding pond at Poyers Grove.
This was followed up by a letter from the council's solicitors, Jones & Jones, on the same subject, urging them to proceed as soon as possible.
As only two members of the old council remained in office, the chairman outlined the issues with this area and the new members were shown the pond.
Following this inspection, it was agreed to sign the deed of easement for Pembs. Housing, but with the following conditions attached: the untidy netting shall be removed; the surrounding fence should be repaired; any fly-tipping to be removed within seven days of it being brought to the notice of the Housing Association; the grass surrounding the area should be cut and maintained at least five times a year.
Among other letters received was one from the Bobby Van Scheme informing the council of the services they can offer the elderly and vulnerable in the community to make their homes more secure by installing locks, alarms etc.
It was agreed to ask if there were posters that could be displayed in the notice boards to inform all residents of this excellent scheme.
A letter was also received from Pembrokeshire County Council regarding illegal raves in the county and asking for the community council's co-operation in reporting any such events in the area to the police station in Haverfordwest on 01437 763355.
During any other business, members were saddened to hear of the death of one of their previous councillors, Mr. Howard Watkins. He was a valued member of the community and would be sadly missed. A sympathy card from the council was to be sent to his family.
The footpath at Back Lane was discussed and it was agreed to contact the Public Rights of Way department and Land Registry to see if the council was able to press forward with the removal of the kissing gate to make the use of this lane easier.
Following the departure of a number of members before the recent elections, there are five seats to fill on the council. It was agreed to put up posters in public areas advertising for new members, with applications in writing to the clerk before the next meeting.
Mr. Williams asked the clerk if she would contact the county council about the removal of some large stones that had been placed on the side of the road in Tanners Lane as they posed a danger to road users.
Mr. Morse brought up the danger at the top of the village at the junction with Chapel Lane. Cars were parked on this corner on a daily basis and posed a danger for vehicles at this junction. It was agreed to contact the county council, highlighting the danger in this area and asking for suggestions to improve the situation.
Mr. Williams asked the clerk to chase up a letter sent recently to the county council regarding the state of the roads leading to Templeton. He informed the clerk that she should direct her correspondence to Mr. Barry Davies, head of infrastructure.
The next meeting will be held in the Church Hall on Thursday, July 22, at 8 pm.
