Following in the tradition of previous village organisations over the past century, Templeton Community Association held its first Carnival and Summer Fayre. The rain held off and the event was opened by the Mayor of Narberth, Clr. Elizabeth Rogers. The Carnival Queen, Anna De'vall, arrived in a castle dipicting Templeton's own Sentence Castle, kindly made by Neil Jenkins, together with her escorts Princess Ella Davies and Knight Templar, Jack Jenkins. The Mayor crowned the Queen and the judging began. There was an amazing display of humour, ingenuity and hard work in the costumes of all the entrants. The judges, Mayor Rogers, Mayoress Denise Rigby and Gloria and Gareth Morgan had a difficult task in deciding the winners. After the judging, Mary Moneybank and friends entertained with their dancing dogs. The novice dogs began with some basic steps, followed by the more experienced dogs who danced with their owners to the music of Delilah and Goldfinger. Community support and unstinting: Templeton YFC ran the lucky dip and coconut shy; Templeton UR Church held a bottle stall; Wyndham Probert brought his authentic Romany caravan and set up a traditional Romany encampment complete with coloured horse and Spot the whippet; The Rotary Club supported with 'Bat the Rat', which is now suffering with a severe headache! Stomachs were well catered for by Andrew Rees's BBQ, strawberry teas by Templeton Community Association and ice creams, kindly donated by Brambys. Templeton Community Association would like to thank everyone for their support and remind them that their next August events will be a Car Boot Sale on the village green on August 18 and coffee morning in the church hall on Tuesday, August 21.
