Last Saturday, the Templeton and District Ladies Choir, with their conductor Mrs. Peggy Morgan, came out of retirement to sing at the memorial service of a popular and respected former member of the choir, Mrs. Mary Mottram (Allen).
Mary had lived for the last 17 years in Australia, but such was her closeness to the choir that they were pleased to sing a favourite piece, Eli Jenkins' Prayer, from 'Under Milk Wood'. It was a beautiful service, held in Nebo Chapel, Efailwen, and conducted by the Rev. Huw George. With her family and many friends present, the choir were glad to join in and be able to say goodbye.
The final three concerts of the Templeton and District Ladies Choir were held at the East Jeffreyston Home, Sunnybank and Gumfreston Residential Home. The first two were great favourites of the choir and if it had continued Gumfreston would surely have been added to them.
It is hard to say goodbye, for the choir, over many years, has made so many friends and received so much appreciation and encouragement that the closure is going to leave a large hole in their lives.
It has been a very happy choir, caring and cheerful with lots of fun. They shall miss their audiences and thank everyone for all their kindness and great hospitality which they shall never forget.
