A teenager was rescued on Monday night after getting stuck on the cliffs near Saundersfoot. The 14-year-old boy had been walking with his father along the beach near Monkstone when he decided to climb up the cliff before his father could stop him. But the boy, who was from Monmouth, became stuck around 150-feet above the beach. As a result, his father telephone 999 and the emergency services were called out to assist shortly before 11.30 pm. Tenby's Tamar Class lifeboat the Haydn Miller was launched and the town's coastguard unit was tasked. The Haydn Miller immediately provided illumination and the casualty was spotted on the cliff. The lifeboat's Y Boat was then deployed to liaise with the father of the casualty, while a coastguard was lowered down to the casualty, before evacuating the boy to the awaiting Y Boat. The casualty and his father and the coastguard cliffman were then taken via the Y Boat, aboard the ALB, and returned to Tenby lifeboat station. "This incident was a good example of teamwork between the coastguard unit and the RNLI," said Mike Day, coastguard station manager.
