A teenager was killed over the Bank Holiday weekend when the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry. Nineteen-year-old Ian Hall, the son of Martin and Kathy Hall, of Bank Farm, Trefasser, near Fishguard, was travelling in his Ford Escort car towards Haverfordwest when he collided head-on with an unloaded Seddon Atkinson articulated lorry on the A40 Whitland by-pass on Saturday. Police closed the road for a period of time following the accident which occurred shortly before 12 noon while they carried out investigations . "The point of impact indicates that the collision occurred on the eastbound carriageway," said a police spokesman. "For some reason, the Escort motor car crossed the carriageway head-on into the oncoming traffic," the spokesman continued. "It is suspected that the Escort was in the process of overtaking another vehicle." Police are appealing for the driver of that vehicle or any other vehicles who witnessed the collision to contact their local police station or Dyfed Powys Police on 0845 3302000.
