An eighteen-year-old male will go on trial after denying raping a teenager in the toilet cubicle of a Saundersfoot nightclub.
Josh Probert, of Kingsmoor Common, Begelly, was charged with rape and remanded into custody at a previous hearing at Swansea Crown Court, after an allegation of rape at the Sands Nightclub on Saundersfoot’s Milford Street.
Dyfed-Powys Police officers were called to the nightclub following the incident which is alleged to have taken place just after 3am on Sunday, December 14.
Police issued an appeal at the time of the incident, seeking to identify a female pictured at the premises, who they believed may have been a witness to the incident.
Probert was arrested on suspicion of rape, and charged with the offence days later.
He returned to court on Monday, January 19 to plead not guilty to the charge; appearing before Judge Geraint Walters for a pre-trial preparation hearing.
Defence solicitor Dyfed Thomas, representing Probert, said: “The defendant’s case is he did not have sexual intercourse.”
Judge Walters scheduled a trial to begin on Tuesday, May 26, which is expected to last four days, with a certificate of trial readiness due on Tuesday, April 28.
