This month sees the highest-profile event yet to take place at the Pembrokeshire Technium in Pembroke Dock

A European Open Day event - being held at the facility on October 31 - will also signal the launch of the building as a Centre of Excellence in environmental research and modelling.

This follows a deal signed in March between computer giant IBM and Swansea University.

The European Open Day will be in the form of a conference, the theme of which will be energy and the environment.

There will be a range of speakers from the European Commission, industry and academia. Among the topics for discussion are the effects on the environment and climate of producing petro-chemicals and electricity and will be aided by computing visualisation techniques.

Accompanying the Open Day will be an evening network event on October 30 where an informal supper will be held and business and industry partners will be able to network with each other and conference delegates.

Technium Pembrokeshire is managed by Pembrokeshire County Council having been developed by the authority in partnership with Swansea University, the University of Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government and is part-funded by the Objective 1 programme.
