Greenhill School's head of music, Clr. Paul Rapi is set to take up the baton of being Tenby's First Citizen after being elected to be Mayor of the seaside resort for 2015/16.

Current Deputy Mayor, Clr. Rapi, who has served on the town council for 10 years, was the unanimous choice to take over from present Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, when the town council met on Tuesday night.

In time honoured tradition Clr. Mrs. Lane asked each councillor in turn if they would like to stand.

When Clr. Rapi indicated his desire to be considered, Clr. Mrs. Lane had no hesitation in proposing that he succeed her.

"Being Tenby born and bred, Clr. Rapi already gives so much back to the town he loves," said Clr. Mrs. Lane.

"As head of music at Greenhill, he has influenced the lives of so many of the town's young people and I have no doubt that he will conduct himself in the same professional manner as our number one citizen."

She was seconded by Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter.

Clr. Rapi will officially don the scarlet robes of office at the Mayor-making ceremony in May.
