Sir, Any of your readers who have been associated with Greenhill School will be aware that Mr. Terry Evans retired at the end of last term. He served the school loyally and with tremendous commitment for 33 years, latterly as Head of the Mathematics Faculty. A high quality mathematician himself, Terry taught generations of our students with considerable skill, a deep affection for the school and unrelenting determination to bring out the mathematical best in those he taught. He was a form tutor to countless numbers of students and they - like the rest of the school - will remember his care and support for them. Many Old Greenhillians will also remember him for the enthusiastic hours he put into teaching young people to sail and to enjoy the social life of Tenby Sailing Club. His well-developed sense of humour and his genuine friendliness have served him well in all the things he has done for the school and for the Tenby community as a whole. I hope his sense of humour did not desert him when he saw his photograph in the Greenhill News section of your paper last week. His comfortable slumber on the occasion that the photograph was taken was more to do with the quality of his headteacher's oratorical skills in that particular staff meeting. Who could blame him, and he was almost certainly not alone. The fault was entirely mine! A significant part of Greenhill left when Terry retired, and we miss him.
Mr. Chris Noble, Headteacher,
The Greenhill School, Tenby
