The weather was perfect, the setting ideal, to enjoy a lovely afternoon at Cliff House, Saundersfoot, last Saturday afternoon for a Macmillan Cancer Support - Tea by the Sea.

Anne and Mike Slade kindly welcomed the community to Cliff House for the second year running.

The ambience was relaxing and full of good banter. As usual, Macmillan volunteers put on a tremendous show of delicious homemade cakes, accompanied by happy, welcoming smiles.

A little hilarity was also enjoyed with local Community Police Officer, Jim Moffat, donning a straw hat, and one of the Macmillan volunteers, Mary Sefton, borrowing his - an opportunity for some great photos!

The sum of £262.50 was the total amount raised, and thanks go to all those who attended and, of course, the committed group of volunteers for their hard work in all the planning and preparation. It was truly a very memorable 'Tea by the Sea' and everyone is now looking forward to next year!

A quiz night for Macmillan is the next major event, to be held at the Begelly Arms Hotel, Begelly, on Wednesday November 14, at 7 pm. Teams of four or six. There will be a hot supper, with dessert and coffee. Tickets cost £10.50. The evening will be hosted by Pembrokeshire's esteemed quizmaster, Mary Thomas. Tickets are available from the Begelly Arms Hotel, or Amroth 810360, Kilgetty 814890, Saundersfoot 813031.
