There is a taster day for new girl footballers planned for Sunday, April 6, starting at 11 am and finishing at 1 pm. This coaching session will take place at Sir Thomas Picton School (Haverfordwest Leisure Centre) and will be free of charge.
The day is being organised by FAW football development officer, Gerry Rigby, and will be the foundation of a new Football Centre of Development aimed specifically for girls aged from eight to 14.
"We have an excellent group of slightly older girls in the system already," explained Gerry. "But we need to develop this age group to feed into the centre, and to maintain our very high standard of Pembrokeshire female footballers. We already have Pembrokeshire girls who represent Wales at Under 13, Under 14, Under 15 and Under 16, in addition to one player who plays for the full Welsh squad. I am sure that there are more girls from this county who would be capable of reaching these standards in the future."
