Pembroke Post Office took part in a UK-wide game of Pass the Parcel in aid of the BBC Children in Need 2016 Campaign, with the branch team and customers taking part in a challenge to raise funds for the charity.

Members from the local Tanyard Youth project, which benefits from funding from BBC Children in Need, were there to give support and cheer on the branch.

Visiting branches in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on its 1800-mile long trip, the parcel has been posted from one branch to another and will finally finish its fundraising journey in Pudsey Post Office on BBC Children in Need day itself, today (Friday)

When the parcel arrived at each branch, the Post Office team were asked to undertake a fundraising challenge which was revealed when they unwrapped the parcel. Each branch then set the challenge for the next branch on the journey.

The parcel was posted from Dunkery Road Post Office in Bridgwater to Pembroke Post Office, and next stop on its journey was Kensington High Street Post Office in London.

Mark Wilson, Postmaster at Pembroke Post Office, said: “The team here are very used to dealing with parcels, but this one was certainly a bit more challenging than the ones we usually accept! The team and customers all thought it was great fun though and it is of course for a great cause which we are delighted to support.”

Sue Lines from the Tanyard Youth project, which provides a safe and supportive environment for children and young people in the Pembroke community, commented: “Funds raised by BBC Children in Need are vital to our project, so it’s great to have the opportunity to be part of such a special event in our local community as well as having some fun with the Post Office team and their customers.”

The Post Office Pass the Parcel Challenge will be delivered by Royal Mail Special Delivery and will be visiting the following branches:
