John Smith took the honours in the Saturday stableford on February 7. He fired a fine 38-point total, with Richard Preece second on 36. John Bancroft was third on countback (better back six) with 35.
Brian Norman, Gareth Burks, John Smith and George King each made a two.
Angelo Zeraschi is in a rich vein of form at present. He won the Tuesday stableford on February 10, with 40 points. Danny Brown scored 37 to finish second, and Roger Cryer edged out Terry Whiston for third place on countback, each having scored 36. Walter Witts has been threatening a big score for some time and he duly delivered in the Seniors stableford on February 12, winning with a handsome 39 points. Mike Williams was second with 35 and Roger Cryer third, 32.
Players involved in the winter/spring league have taken advantage of the improved weather to play some more of their 12 permitted cards (with the best eight to count). David Owen has regained the lead in the top division, having now played seven cards for a total of 199. He can expect to be overhauled soon, however, as his nearest pursuers have all only played five, and are not too far adrift. Richard Davies is second with 189, and Meurig Evans third, thanks to recent scores of 39 and 37, with 187. In joint fourth are Phil Catlin and Roger Cryer, the latter a model of consistency with recent outings of 36 and 37. The pair have 170 each. Gerald John completes the top six with 169. Further back, but going well, is Mel Neale. His third card scored 37 and he has 141 from four.
Danny Brown has streaked ahead in the lower division, having now played eight cards for a total of 275, scores of 40 and 39 having done him no harm at all. Brian Norman comes next with 199 from seven, with Peter Scourfield third with 190 from six. Gilroy Thomas is fourth with 152, and Ken Badham fifth with 145, both having played five. John Bancroft completes the top six, and has 140 from four cards.
The Junior section continued their nine-hole winter foursomes league on Sunday, February 8. The week's best card was handed in by Ashley Evans and Matthew McMann who scored 18 points.
The annual general meeting of Trefloyne Golf Club will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at 7.30 pm in the clubroom. The closing date for nominations is February 26.
