Thomas Burkat won his second monthly medal of the season on Saturday, completing in gross 83, net 71, to finish three shots ahead of the field in the Tiger division (0-15 handicaps). The two recent singles winners, Chris Thompson (74-0-74) and Barrie Turner (84-10-74), were second and third respectively, Chris taking the runner-up spot thanks to a better back nine.
In the Rabbits division (16- 28 handicaps), Danny Brown (99-20-79) won on countback from Richard Davies (95-16-79) and Con Kearney (108-22-86). Ivan Kirk and Phil Catlin each scored a two.
Chris Thompson had been in fine form throughout September as demonstrated by his win in the Saturday stabelford on September 20. Off scratch, he scored a magnificent 40 points. His pairs partner, Adam Thomas, was second with 38, so it was no surprise that they picked up some silverware at finals weekend. Chris Hicks was third, on countback, with 36, Rob Evans was fourth with 36, and Robin Lloyd fifth with 35.
Mike Williams won the Tuesday stableford on September 23 with 34. John Bancroft, with 33, just pipped Ivan Kirk for second on countback. Garfield Price finished in front with 40 points on September 30. Walter Witt was second with 33 and Brian Norman third with 32.
Trefloyne Seniors entertained Carmarthen on Thursday, October 2, in the final Seniors match of 2003. Although Ivan Kirk completed his season as captain with a loss in the opening game, his team rallied round and fittingly finished a friendly campaign with an honourable half.
The final score was Trefloyne Seniors 5 Carmarthen Seniors 5.
As the season draws to a close, Meurig Evans still tops the Table of Merit, but only just. He has 45 points, but is hard pressed by Chris Thompson with 44 and Mike Williams 37. Dean Rawlins is fourth with 34 and Steve Wedlake fifth with 30.
