Ian Lawrence and Liz Crockford, men's and ladies' captains respectively, were blessed with fine weather for Captains' Day on Saturday, May 10.
A substantial turnout of members and guests was a splendid reward for the two captains, who had worked extremely hard to ensure that both Invitation Day and Captains' Day were successful.
The main competition was a better ball pairs stableford, which was won in style by Keith Bowen and R. Davis with 48 points. Graham Wharton and John Smith were second on countback with 44, and Bobby Windsor and P. Evans were third.
Huw Evans had the best individual gents' stableford score with 40; Heather Thomas was the best lady with 37. Nigel Chapple won the longest drive for gents; Lyn Bonar took the ladies' prize. Steve Wedlake won nearest the pin for the gents.
Both captains spoke briefly, thanking the green-keepers for their expertise, the ladies for their considerable effort in organising the catering and members and guests for their support on the day.
Those present then enjoyed a convivial evening in the marquee, kindly supplied by course owners FH Gilman and Co.
The second Trefloyne Junior Open was held on Sunday, May 11 when strong winds provided the youngsters with a stern test. The event was well supported by young golfers from all over South Wales.
Trefloyne men's captain, Ian Lawrence, presented the prizes. Daniel Farmer, from Haverfordwest, won best gross with 79, a fine score given the difficult conditions.
Results in other categories were as follows:
Eighteen hole medal (0 to 16 handicaps): 1. David Llewelyn (Haverfordwest) Net 72 (countback); 2. Nathan Lewis (Trefloyne) 72; 3. Sam Morgan (Tenby) 73.
Eighteen hole stableford (17 to 28 handicaps): 1. Jack Guerreiro (Tenby) 46 pts; 2. Liam Shiggins (Garnant Park) 40; 3. Ben Price (Vale of Glamorgan and Trefloyne) 38.
Girls' 18 hole stableford: 1. Lauren Young (Milford Haven) 34; 2. Emily Pullen (Milford Haven) 33; 3. Rachel Scourfield (Tenby) 30.

Thanks are extended to all members who helped with the organisation and running of the Junior Open, and also to the many sponsors who donated cash or prizes.
Paul Griffiths won the Tuesday stableford on May 6, on countback, with 35 points. John Cliff was second, and there was a three-way tie for third position between Dean Rawlins, Danny Brown and Pat Corcoran, who each scored 32.
The tiny turnout on Thursday, May 8 was more due to the busy weekend ahead than general apathy, but it's still nice to win on these occasions, and Pat Corcoran duly obliged with 29, and his sole rival, Mike Evans, finished with 28.
The inaugural mid-week medal was held on Tuesday, May 13 and was won by Philip John with net 72 (96-24). Runner-up was Roger Cryer (90-14 -76) and Brian Norman was third (96-18 -78).
Trefloyne Seniors hosted South Pembs. on Thursday, May 15. The fixture was spoilt by the weather, with blustery showers turning to torrential rain towards the end of the afternoon, but fortunately the match was completed.
Acting captain Roger Cryer, partnered by Roger Thompson, won 4 and 3, as did Alan Brown and Dennis Busby. Mel Beeley and Mike Hale won 3 and 2, and Pat Corcoran and John Bancroft won 6 and 5.
Dean Rawlins played solo against a pair, and did exceptionally well to halve, but there were defeats for Brian Cowley and Pat Hill, David Owen and John Rolfe, and Brian Norman and Graham Harrison. The result was a 4.5-3.5 win for Trefloyne.
