There were a record number of entries for the annual Trefloyne Invitation Challenge, held in testing, windy conditions on Friday.

Once again, the event attracted huge support from local and visiting golfers, all keen to enjoy a fine day's golf whilst supporting this year's charity, the Wales Air Ambulance.

Balfour Beatty Power Networks were the main sponsors of the event, and there was exeptional additional sponsorship from other local businesses, who donated prizes or sponsored individual holes.

The quality of the golf matched the superb condition of the course. There was a thrilling contest for the Trefloyne Invitation Challenge Cup, with Wayne Jones winning with 39 points, but only on countback, with two others having the same score.

The prestigious Challenge Shield, awarded to the winning team, was won by 'Aquarod B'. Last year's winners, Balfour Beatty and Western Power, finished second and third respectively.

Ann Dassen, from Tenby Golf Club won the Ladies Invitation Challenge Salver and many of her Tenby colleagues, notably Linzi Hawkey with three, picked up other prizes.

Men's captain Ian Lawrence, prior to awarding the prizes, extended special thanks to Peter Edwards and his team of green-keepers, to ladies captain Liz Crockford and her team of helpers, to Stephen and Haulwen Laidler, to course owners FH Gilman and Co., to the committee and all others who had worked hard to ensure the success of the event, and last, but not least, to the competitors and sponsors, without whose support it would not have been possible to hold the event.

The complete list of winners was as follows:
