Dean Rawlins resisted late challenges from both Meurig Evans and Roger Thompson to win the Tiger division of the winter/spring league. With the best eight cards from 12 counting for each golfer, Dean finished with 320 points against Meurig's 301 and Roger's 297. Mel Neale was fourth with 284 and Phil Catlin fifth with 280.

Garfield Price fairly raced away with the Rabbits division, his 312 point tally leaving him well ahead of the rest. Brian Norman, who had led for a long time, was second with 287. Ken Badham was third with 276, Gilroy Thomas fourth with 271 and Jack Zeraschi fifth with 269.

Trefloyne Seniors played their first match of the season away to Milford Haven on Thursday, April 3. Ivan Kirk is the new Seniors captain and, playing in the top game, ably assisted by his partner, Roger Cryer, his season looked to be off to a flyer. The pair were two up with three to play, only to see their opponents win 16 and 17 with par and birdie, and then take 18 as well.

There were, however, excellent Trefloyne wins for Brian Norman and John Smith, Mike Hale and Trevor Lewis, and Graham Wharton and Mike Evans. Sadly, the remaining Trefloyne pairs all lost, so the result was a 7-3 victory for Milford Haven. It's a visit to Carmarthen next, where we hope for improvement.

The Juniors played a medal competition on Sunday, March 30. Matthew McMann held off Luke Laidler in a tight finish which was decided by virtue of a better back nine. Matthew's net was 68 (91-23), Luke's also 68 (82-15), and Nathan Lewis was third, net 73 (84-11).

The JOP Easter Cup will be held over the holiday weekend. This is a 36-hole competition, and entrants can play their two rounds on any two days from the Friday to Monday. The weather is usually a significant factor and last year conditions were such that only 12 cards of 30 points or better were submitted from over 60 rounds played, Gary Haigh running out the winner with 66 points.
