There were some strong performances against the course in the Bogey competition on Saturday, March 22. Mel Beeley finished five up to take the honours, and Ivan Kirk maintained his good form, taking second place when finishing four up. Mike Williams, three up, was third and also scored a two, as did Garfield Price and Barry Turner.

Mel Beeley was on song again a week later, winning the stableford on Saturday, March 29, with 40 points. Harvey Lloyd was second with 38 and Barry Thorne third, on countback, with 37. Five twos were scored, by George King, Brian Norman, Mike Allen, Peter Scourfield and Barry Thorne.

Scoring continues to be high in the midweek stablefords, with the dry, relatively benign conditions prevailing. Garfield Price won with 46 points on Tuesday, March 25. Mike Williams was second with 42 and John Smith third with 39.

There was another 46-point winner on Thursday, March 27. Meurig Evans was the one in sparkling form, finishing with a net 62. Mike Evans was second on 41 and Peter Scourfield and Ken Webster tied third with 40.

Nathan Lewis and Matthew Rees posted a fine last round score of 22 in the nine-hole Junior winter foursomes league to finish with a total of 110, and a well earned first place. The competition was closely contested throughout with the winners' excellent last round proving decisive. Luke Laidler and Leighton Gwyther, last year's winners, tied for second place with Ashley Evans and Matthew McMann, each pair finishing with 105 points.

The draws for the knockout cups are now available in the Pro's shop. Matches can be played from April 7, and the first rounds of the Laidler and Wesley House singles must be completed by May 13. The first rounds of the pairs competitions must be completed by June 10.
