There was a 'fountain' of good golf, and no doubt ice-creams for his playing partners, when Jack Zeraschi won the Saturday stableford on November 23, his first competition win at Trefloyne. Conditions were reasonably benign considering the wet weather, yet scoring was lower than in recent weeks, although the winner finished with a respectable 36 points. John Bancroft was second by virtue of a better back nine than Terry Whiston, who was third. They scored 35 points each.

In the absence of Mike Ansell, reportedly trotting round the shops with Mrs. A., nobody could make a two, so the pot is carried forward for him to win next time.

Meurig Evans improved his score by one shot in round five of the eclectic competition. He now leads the Tiger division on 55. Phil Catlin made a significant jump into second place after improving by five to 58. Mike Ansell, Mel Neale, Ivan Kirk and Roger Cryer are tied for third on 60, the latter having improved three shots this time. Barry Thorne and Gerald John are joint seventh on 61.

In the Rabbits section, there was no change at the top, with Mike Williams and John Chirnside, locked together on 52, failing to improve their scores. This enabled Brian Norman to move close enough to mount a challenge in the final week. He knocked three off his score and is now joint third on 55, the same mark as Terry Whiston. Bob Maxwell and Terry Morris are joint fifth on 56, and joint seventh on 57 are Dave McMann, Richard Preece and Derek Jones.

Last year's winner of the Junior eclectic competition, Leighton Gwyther, has moved into pole position in this year's event. After four rounds he has a score of 55, and just leads Daniel Brace who is second on 56. Luke Laidler is third on 58, Matthew McMann fourth on 59, and joint fifth on 61 are Ashley Evans and Tom Hilling.
