Trefloyne Juniors held their Christmas competition for the Highfield Shield on Sunday, December 23. This nine-hole stableford for all handicap classes is sponsored by Mr. Terry Morris who donated the shield. Tom Hilling was the worthy winner with 20 points. He was followed home by James Maxwell, 19 points, and Simon Hilling, with 16.

After the competition, the juniors enjoyed a buffet in the clubhouse, after which the junior organiser, Dave McMann, reviewed the past year and, joined by the professional, Steve Laidler, presented the year's trophies.

Junior winners in 2001 were: nine hole summer league (handicaps over 36) - Chris Heesom; 18 hole summer league (handicaps 36 and under) - Tom Hilling; Junior Captain's Day: nine hole - Daniel Brace, 18 hole - Tom Hilling; 18 hole winter league - Luke Laidler; pairs stableford - Nathan Lewis and David Warren; Gilman Matchplay - Simon Hilling; Highfield Shield - Tom Hilling. Monthly medals were awarded to Nathan Lewis, Luke Laidler and Tom Hilling.

Presentations were also made to Haulwen Laidler, Caroline Fletcher and Lyn Morris who were thanked for the hard work they had put in with the junior section during the past year.

The closing speech was made by junior captain Nathan Lewis who extended thanks, on behalf of all the juniors, to all who had helped the section during the year, and particularly Dave McMann and Steve Laidler, who had put in so much time over the last 12 months.
