The first monthly medal of the new season at Trefloyne was held on Saturday, May 12, and brought well-earned divisional wins for Roger Cryer and Ron Webber.
It was a particular triumph for the former captain of the club, who was playing his first medal since joining the elite golfers in the 0-15 handicap division. He produced some excellent golf, scoring gross 87, net 72, to finish five shots clear of the remainder.
Phil Catlin, another newcomer to the tiger division, was second with net 77 and also had the pleasure of recording the only two of the day. Barrie Turner was third with net 84.
There was a closer contest for the 0-24 handicap division, with Ron Webber's net 77 just beating Alan Bale's net 78. Mel Beeley was third with net 80.
There are some important dates for early June. The next monthly medal is on Saturday, June 2.
Saturday, June 9, is the occasion of The Seniors v The Rest match. Get your names down early!
The Seniors sadly lost their match against South Pembrokeshire GC, scheduled for May 17, to the weather, and now look forward to their next home fixture, against St. David's GC on June 7. Those wishing to play should add their names to the list in the Pro's shop.
Seniors are also reminded that the Trefloyne Seniors' Championship will be held this year on Thursday, June 14.
There was no Tuesday stableford on May 8, but Peter Scourfield was in good form on May 15, winning with 36 points. Windsor Nicholas was second with 31.
Trefloyne Juniors added a little variety to their programme, holding a 'three club and a putter' competition on Sunday, May 13. This was played in two divisions. The 0-28 division was won by Simon Hilling with 21 points. Nathan Lewis was second on countback with 20, just beating Adam Thomas into third. The over 28 division was won by Daniel Brace with 20. Alessandro Servini was second, on countback, with 19, and Daniel Edwards was third.
This Sunday, the Juniors will be on the course with their fathers in the annual Father and Son competition.
