Staff of the Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust are being encouraged to 'take up the challenge' and adopt healthy lifestyles. Responding to the Health Challenge Wales initiative promoted by the Welsh Assembly, the Trust's Occupational Health Department recently organised a Healthy Lifestyles Week including a Fayre at the Withybush Conference Centre. Staff were treated to taster sessions of various complementary therapies, were encouraged on the benefits and local opportunities for exercise, given advice and support on smoking cessation and losing weight, and were able to have fitness tests including having their blood pressure taken. The Trust's Director of Human Resources, Janet Wilkinson said, "Having a healthy workforce is very important. We welcome the opportunity to take up the Health Challenge Wales initiative as a way of helping us all improve our health and well-being. Our Healthy Lifestyles Week was very popular and we are grateful to all our partner organisations and individuals who came along to help us spread the message."
