Take on the challenge to walk either 26 or 13 miles to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Starting at 6 am and 9.30 am from Pembroke Castle, the route will cross the Haven to Neyland, travel along the Brunel Trail to Haverfordwest and then retrace steps back to the castle. On arrival back at the castle, walkers will receive a medal and be given the opportunity to have a massage. There will be live music and also a pig roast/BBQ and refreshments available to purchase.
New for this year is the Castle Pond Toddle for little children accompanied by their parents. This will be a one-mile walk around the Castle Pond starting at 11 am. The children will be led out, and welcomed back, by two Disney characters and there will also be a bouncy castle and slide as well as face painting.
This is why we do it
Macmillan's ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same. It's a huge goal. After all, more than one in three people will get cancer at some point in their lives. With treatments improving and the population ageing, more people are living with the illness than ever before - 2.5 million and counting. Reaching and supporting all of them will be a challenge, but we know our team can do it.
We will work tirelessly to make sure every single person who needs it gets support from our nurses and therapists. To make sure they all receive help with money worries from our advisers. To get to the point where everyone with cancer knows know they can turn to us for a chat with someone who understands. To give people practical support with the everyday things. And to make sure they have access to expert cancer information they can trust.
Stephen Thornton, Valero public affairs manager, said: "The refinery's partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support is one of our most well-established commitments to the community here in Pembrokeshire. The Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk has become a firmly fixed date in the spring calendar, and we look forward to another major fundraising success in 2015."
