GETTING up at 3.30 am to climb three of Wales' highest peaks in one day isn't everyone's idea of a restful weekend, but that is what Narberth and Whitland Round Tablers recently agreed to do in aid of Ty Hafan.

Starting at the base of Snowdon before dawn, the team summited at 6 am and went on to complete the climb of Cadair Idris and finished at Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons later that evening.

Pictured at the top of the last peak, the team, made up of (from left) Martin Everett, James Phillips, Huw Lloyd and Andrew Salmon (ably assisted by their driver Dr Bethan Lloyd), completed a total distance of 20.35 miles and made a total ascent of 9,397ft (2,864m).

Martin Everett, a solicitor at Darwin Bowie in Narberth, said: "Ty Hafan is such a worthwhile cause that we had no hesitation in signing up for the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge. Now we have recovered from it we are hoping to get more donations. We have already raised nearly £2,000 and hope we can increase this."

Donations can be made at Darwin Bowie on the High Street in Narberth or at http://www.justgiving.com/Martin-Everett">http://www.justgiving.com/Martin-Everett.

Chairman of Narberth and Whitland Round Table, Andrew Salmon, said: "We will be assisting in the running of the Daiathlon in a few weeks time as well as raising funds for local charities and causes during Civic Week and, of course, the annual Santa Run later in the year.

"We are also actively seeking new members. If anyone is interested in helping to raise funds for charities whilst having a good time doing it, then please contact me on 077892 63667 or at [email protected]">[email protected]"
