Two South Pembrokshire Schools have suffered swine flu scares this week.
A total of 36 pupils out of 88 were absent from St. Florence School on Wednesday.
And as we went to press yesterday (Thursday), a further three children were being kept home at Tenby Junior School.
Out of those missing from lessons at St. Florence School, 10 or 12 children were said by Pembrokeshire County Council to be suffering from flu-like symptoms, with the others being kept at home by parents as a precautionary measure.
Two members of staff were also missing. Headteacher Gari Davies had a relation suffering from flu-like symptoms. The other member had an upset stomach.
At Tenby Junior School, there were no flu-like symptoms amongst the pupil population, but three children were being kept home as a precaution.
Both schools remained open on the advice of the national Public Health Service, but were closing yesterday (Thursday) for the summer holidays.
Last week, Pembrokeshire County Council confirmed that a member of staff at Pembroke School had become ill with flu-like symptoms and was currently resting at home.
Healthy people with flu-like symptoms or respiratory illness are advised to check their symptoms on the NHS Direct Wales website or the swine flu information line on 0800 1 513 513. If they are still concerned they should phone their GP or NHS Direct Wales on 0845 4647.
They should not go to their local surgery or A&E in case they spread the virus to others, especially at-risk groups.
