Almost 30 of the county's best young swimmers took the plunge at the first Pembrokeshire Skills Camp at the weekend.
The youngsters, who all compete with their local swimming clubs, brushed up on their technique at a special training session at Pembroke Leisure Centre on Saturday.
The session was designed to develop their aquatic talent with the aim of qualifying for the next Welsh Amateur Swimming Association Age Groups competition at the National Pool in Swansea.
The 29 nine to 12-year-olds, who make up the County Skills Squad, were coached by Paul Dowey, Pembrokeshire Leisure's swimming development coach, as well as volunteer coaches from clubs within the county.
"The camps will give our top young swimmers the chance to train together, have fun and make new friends," he said.
"Hopefully, as well as brushing up their techniques, they will also be enthused to develop their potential further."
The Pembroke skills camp was the first of six sessions designed to benefit the county's young competitive swimmers, who are already swimming in their local clubs and entering competitions.
Further skills camps will be held in Crymych, Fishguard, Tenby, Haverfordwest, and a mystery venue over the coming six months.
