At a recent meeting of the Narberth committee of Macmillan Cancer Relief at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, members were joined by Miss Alison Rowlands and Mr. and Mrs. Denzil Griffiths with family and friends from Tenby.

Alison, a member of staff at Narberth branch of Barclays Bank, braved the cold at the Tenby Boxing Day Swim with her friends Steven, Darren, Elaine, Beverley, Andrew, David, Linda, Nicholas, Rachel and Shaun to raise funds in memory of their dear friend Sharron Griffiths, who sadly died of cancer last year. In spite of her illness, her bravery and bubbly personality inspired them all.

The chairman of MCR, Mrs. Janet Thomas, congratulated them all and gratefully accepted cheques amounting to £1,080 which included a very generous donation of £370 from Barclays Charities Aid Foundation.

Mr. Denzil Griffiths thanked everyone for their help and generosity.

After the presentation, a committee meeting took place and plans were made for several fund-raising events to be held during the year.

During the last 14 months, over £10,400 has been raised by the Narberth committee, including recent donations of £199.75 from Mr. and Mr. Julian Williams, of Lampeter House, and £145 raised by Mrs. Kathleen Phillips.
