Several swimmers took the plunge last week at Tenby Leisure Centre, in a sponsored 'swimathon' for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
The Butlins Swimathon 2003 saw a whole range of children and adults swimming to their limit, with distances varying from 500 to 10,000 metres (just over six miles), with 10 individuals and three relay teams taking part in the task.
Tracy Hart, lifeguard at Tenby Leisure Centre, said: "I would like to thank all of those who took part in the swimathon. This year's participants have been fantastic and the swimmers have really trained hard to swim further than ever before. Hopefully their dedication will have paid off when the sponsorship money comes in."
Swimmers in Tenby were among the tens of thousands who participated in this year's swimathon, in 550 pools across the country, in a bid to raise over £2 million for charity.
Among those who took part in the Tenby swimathon were: Hilary Sutton, Lorna Sutton, Maxwell Randles, Joann Randles, Des Rees, Alan Lesser, Jennifer Rico, Charles Fecci, Rachel Cook, Sarah Taylor, members of the Avenue Centre and team captains Richard Livock and Alix Lewis.
