A husband and wife team have donated £1,530 to Wales Air Ambulance.
Ted and Susan Blount, parents of Paul, who works for Riverlea in Whitland, raised the money through the sale of honey and bees from their hobby of beekeeping.
Ted, an engineer for First Milk in Haverfordwest, first took up beekeeping in 2009 after taking a course with the Tivyside, Coed y Bryn Bee Club. His hobby has seen his apiaries grow to 48 hives during the last three seasons.
His idea of raising money from the sale of 15 hives came about following a motorbike accident involving his son Paul. Paul required the services of the air ambulance to ferry him to hospital.
During various conversations with air ambulance staff, it emerged that each time the helicopter was deployed, the cost was on average £1,500.
This prompted Ted to embark on his fundraising quest to raise that much needed money for the service.
Many thanks from the Blounts go to everyone who bought bees and honey to make this all possible.
Mike Ashbridge from Wales Air Ambulance thanked the Blounts for their exceptional donation.
"Ted and Susan Blount have worked incredibly hard and been particularly generous with their donation to the air ambulance. I can also recommend their honey to anyone, it is absolutely delicious!"
