St. Davids Church, Llanddewi Velfrey, is at the end of a long lane, but when you get there, it is a very pleasant setting, facing the river Marlais valley and looking across at Lampeter Velfrey and Tavernspite.

Attendance like all other places of worship is in decline, but the loyal supporters hold services every Sunday.

Last Sunday, the service was in the evening and the visiting clergy and the congregation were surprised to see an additional new worshiper - a horse. In view of the fact that he did not tip-toe when walking across the cemetery, he was not entirely welcome.

However, there were more surprises to come. When the members were leaving, they were chased to their cars by two big black dogs. No injury was caused, but all agreed it was different than the normal Sunday services.
