Staff and contractors of Dragon LNG got together for a cake sale last Thursday to raise funds for local charity Pembrokeshire Cancer Support. The charity, based in Queen Street, Pembroke Dock, helps cancer sufferers and their families alleviate the physical and mental distress caused by cancer as well as educating people about the condition.
Lyn Neville, charity co-ordinator for Pembrokeshire Cancer Support, contacted Dragon LNG asking for donations to sell in the shop. Dragon LNG, based in Waterston, decided to help raise awareness amongst its staff by selling cakes as well as raising money.
Nearly £150 was raised which Dragon LNG will match fund to bring to £300. On top of this, staff brought in unwanted things from home suitable for the shop.
“I am overwhelmed by the donations from all of the staff.” said Lyn Neville. “I filled my car to the roof with books, clothes, handbags and other bits. It is hard for small local charities to raise their profile and we are grateful to Dragon LNG for their help in doing this.”
“We are delighted that our staff have taken the time and effort to bake and buy cakes on the day as well as donating for the shop, ” said Lynette Fenwick, acting external affairs and facilities co-ordinator for Dragon LNG. “As a company we are committed to Pembrokeshire and to helping local charities support local people.”
