The work of Pembrokeshire County Council social services team and the education disability team has been recognised by the authority’s chairman, Clr. Tony Brinsden.
Employees of Team around the Family and those from the Children with Disabilities and the Inclusion team within Education were invited to a celebratory afternoon tea in the chairman’s suite in County Hall.
Team around the Family work with families to provide a more positive future for their children and the support they provide has been recognised with a British Association of Social Workers Wales (BASWA) award for Best Social Work Team recently.
The Children with Disabilities team work with children with disabilities and complex needs.
The work they have done throughout the county supports these children as they enter education and continues throughout their schooling.
“We are lucky to have such dedicated teams working for Pembrokeshire County Council,” said Clr. Brinsden.
“It was an honour to host them for an hour and find out more about their roles.
“From speaking with them, it’s clear they face daily challenges, but their enthusiasm for what they do ensures their work is testing yet rewarding.”
Clr. Brinsden’s words were echoed by cabinet member for services to children and lifelong safeguarding, Clr. Sue Perkins.
“These teams work behind the scenes and their work often goes unnoticed and I know the invite from the chairman will be well received by them all.”
