A plan for a controversial supermarket in Narberth is being recommended for refusal - again.
Members of Pembrokeshire County Council's planning and rights of way committee are being advised to turn down the application for part demolition, change of use and extension to form Class A1 retail foodstore at the former Brains Brewery and Retail Store in Spring Gardens.
The application had been recommended for refusal in July, but at the request of the applicant, the report on the planning application was withdrawn in order to consider further information.
Developer-led, the future client is understood to be the Co-operative foodstore.
A report to come before next Tuesday's meeting considers the proposal, as submitted, to be 'unacceptable in that it would introduce a food store on a site located outside the designated town centre of Narberth when a sequentially preferable site exists within the town centre.'
The report added: "The proposal in conjunction with the consented store in Kilgetty is considered to have an adverse impact upon the continued viability and vitality of the town centre."
