It was a super Saturday morning as 41 Steps2Health members gathered in Upper Park Road, Tenby.
It was already warm with lots of visitors thronging by. After the usual pre-walk chat, Paul, supported by the two Tonies, led the Speedies group down the road bound for Black Rock. Barbara, backed by Donna and Marlene, led the main Steadies group up the road towards Trafalgar Road and the Esplanade. Brian followed behind with the small but very exclusive Steadies Two group.
Our aim was to avoid the crowds as far as possible. The Speedies walked to Penally via the golf course, then returned past Crossing Cottage.
That was lovely and quiet, but pretty warm as the thermometer crept ever higher. When the Steadies went down the South Beach zigzags they could see that the tide was fairly high and that the beach was crowded. They weaved their way around the happy holidaymakers and it was quieter towards Black Rock.
The Steadies Two group turned left when they reached the Esplanade and walked around the edges of the town, admiring the sea views. Then they made their way to St. Teilo’s Church Hall, for a coffee morning being held there.
By the time the Speedies reached Black Rock, the Steadies had already passed going the other way and were heading back towards the town via the golf club. The South Beach was very busy when the Speedies passed the Water’s Edge complex. However, they threaded in and out of the sun loungers and umbrellas to reach the relative calm of the zigzags.
By the time they reached Saint Florence Parade they realised that the Steadies were ahead of them. As both groups arrived together at the coffee morning, the queue was out of the door for a while. Everyone really enjoyed the usual delicious cakes and the fun of the raffle.
After much lively chat the group finally dispersed and made their way home, after another very enjoyable, highly sociable morning out.
