Saturday’s Whitland Carnival has been hailed a great success.
“We had a wonderful day once the grass had been kindly watered by a small shower, leaving the carnival atmosphere to warm up and really get going,” said Mayor, Clr. Frank Connor-Hughes.
“The crowd were lining the streets to watch the procession of 15 classic and vintage cars carrying the president Clive Edwards with his wife Nia, along with myself as Mayor in front of the seven floats carrying the Carnival Queen, Rose Queen and Fairy Queen, along with their attendants.
“Parc Dr. Owen filled quickly with the carnival revellers with many people dressed in fancy dress wandering around the selection of stalls and activities.
“The whole place was buzzing with a real community atmosphere.
“It was an absolute pleasure to have the Mayor of Narberth, the Mayor of St. Clears, along with their consorts to judge the floats and fancy dress competition.
“The smile across everyone’s face was the sign of a great day.”
Chairman of Whitland Week, Rob Kersey, added: “The carnival was fantastic. I’ve lived in Whitland for 26 years and I was talking to people who have lived in Whitland all their lives and they said they hadn’t seen a bigger crowd. It was totally amazing.”
