This year, 2006, is the 150th anniversary of Mission to Seafarers. This Christian organisation has priests and missions at nearly all ports. Sailors come from all sorts of places, very often without many clothes and very little money. The Seafarers Mission provides a haven for these men, where they can rest, contact families back home and enjoy each other's company. Over the summer, St. Mary's Church Sunday Club produced and sold a book of prayers, selling them to the public. They also made some lines of coins between the church and Church House. Great fun was had by all and as a result, the children were able to send off a grand total of £233.20.
